The rollercoaster chugged slowly link by link towards the neon monkey lurching out to grab you at the top of the climb. Aromas from the carnival float though the air. I’m caught by the roasted walnuts and turn to see where the scent is coming from. Just then I hear the blenders from the smoothie shack below and cannot believe the smell of ripe fruit rising through the white wooden frame of the ancient coaster, its blackberries, apricots and ripe black plums. The sun beats down on us as we slowly reach the top, narrowly escaping the clutches of the giant neon monkey. The tired wood frame smells of cedar. The cart reaches the top and I can see the carnival in full view. Abruptly, we descend arms high above our heads as I breathe in all the aromas of a summer night at the fair. The first turn wildly jerks us; we gasp the sweet summer air and plunge into darkness. The 2007 Wilderotter Zinfandel will take you on that wild Zin ride when you enjoy it now. It will reward you with a golden ring from the carousel if you wait a little while to enjoy.
