Toasty almonds, vanilla, creamy apple and preserved lemon – perfectly balanced and
food friendly.

I’m on the verandah enjoying the pink and orange glow of the sunset on a late summer day. The warmth of the day still radiates from the flagstone. Our sunset salute this evening is a lightly chilled Russian River Valley Chardonnay served in the finest crystal, of course. The suede lounge chair envelopes me as I shift around to catch the golden orb of a sun setting through the trees that surround our wine country home. This evening’s hors d’ovures are a sautéed rock fish wrapped in butter lettuce with a garlic aioli. Our private Chef always knows just what to serve. The Chardonnay flavors of creamy apple and preserved lemon clean the rich aioli from my palette. As the sun continues to sink lower into the horizon a chill sets in the air, our personal assistant rushes to my side with a Peruvian wool shawl to comfort my goose bumps. I settle back into the lounge chair as the sun dips below the ridge. Aromas of vanilla and toasted almond surround my head. There cannot be anything more soothing and luxurious as a colorful California wine county sunset accompanied by Wilderotter 2008 Russian River Valley Chardonnay.
